MELANIE! DO NOT ALLOW MABRY TO SEE THIS!

So, Mabry LOVES the British kids' show Charlie and Lola. So does Melanie. So do I. I try to remember to catch it on Saturdays and am terribly jealous that they can watch it during the week.

Charlie and Lola are siblings who remind me an awful lot of Parker and Mabry. Lola gets into all sorts of trouble without really trying or meaning to and Charlie helps her find a way out. They are adorable.

Last year I ordered a Charlie and Lola book for Mabry, which she is still reading, and a deck of Charlie and Lola Go Fish cards. Whenever we play Go Fish, we must speak with a British accent. I'm not that good at it, but Mabry is phenomenal...for a Southern Princess. ;)

This year I ordered a couple of Charlie and Lola items and received two Lola masks. I foresee much fun in the future. I must work on my accent first.

Sadly, yes. They were freebies for ordering the other stuff. :(

Just draw some little bows and pink lipstick on the other one with some markers? Oh and more bangs!

Their faces are identical... and so are their haircuts, really. You just need a bow attached!

I never noticed that they do look almost identical...but you know his face is a bit longer, and children notice those little things....maybe two blue bows on there and Mabry will not notice. Alex never got into that show but I kept pushing it, I loved it!

Hahaha! I love it! I can imagine all the fun you and Mabry will have.

I've never seen that cartoon. Of course, I work every Saturday, so...

It is such a cute cartoon. Maybe I'll give the Charlie masks to Parker and Peyton and tell them they have to play with Mabry...who is cuter than Lola anyway. ;)

WE LOVE Charlie and Lola too! I was very upset when they started showing it at nap time! (We have the books - but I can't do the voices.) I finally ordered a bunch of the DVDs and now we can watch at OUR convenience!

I recently found a new book series by the same author, and in the same style, about a slightly older character named Clarice Bean. I sent for one of the books for Gabi.

Jeff gave Melanie a couple of the DVDs for their anniversary or Christmas or her birthday one year (can't remember which). Mabry watches them often.

You should hear Mabry say 'small'...it's a scream!

Oooooo...Clarice Bean. I love the name! I'll have to check that out! Thanks!

I love it when they start speaking "Lola" and saying "toe-mah-toe" and "shan't" and ask for "biscuits"

On the CD, there is a whole routine about the language they speak in "Lolaland" - oh there is also a CD that we listen to in the car.

It is especially funny to me since we often refer to "Gabiland," although, there is no special language spoken there, except German.

One of the gifts I got Mabry is a door knob sign. I can't remember the exact words, but one side allows entrance and the other bars it. "You may absolutely completely come in," I think is close. ;)

That is exactly what I said! Luckily I can blame it on Gabi! Lauren Child also illustrated the Pippi Longstockings books on that link - I may have to get those too... for Gabi!
