It rained all night and part of the morning. Whenever we get a good rain, the trees shed dead limbs and leaves so the yard is a disaster right now.

There's not much left to take pictures of outside. Flowers are fading, Bokeh is hiding in his house, and with the much cooler temperature the birds and squirrels are taking a break. We aren't supposed to reach sixty degrees today. It's a good day to read.

While wandering the yard in search of a photo of the day, I came across some dead limbs covered in lichen, a very odd organism. I also found a pretty (and bedraggled) bloom just over the wall in my neighbor's yard. The obligatory leaves, of course. But not much else. Nothing really spectacular.

An October bloom...'Ragged Princess'...

Some lichen...both 'White Lichen' and 'Green Lichen'...choose your poison. ;)

Some leaves...'Age Spots'...

Photo of the Day...'Caught'...

And some 'Squirrel Scraps'...

There are eighty-four days left in 2008. Eighty-four pictures to take. *sigh* I'll be glad when Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas get here. At least I'll have something to photograph. :/

Love the green lichen because it's such a beautiful green. Love the age spots leaf, too, for it's brilliance.

Your photo of the day is a very clever find.

Thanks. Apparently, my eye is drawn to tiny things that mean nothing. LOL!

The green lichen looks like moldy dough.
:D
But I love your pictures today..any one of them could have been picture of the day although the one you chose is a wonderful study in contrasts.

The lichen feels like hardened play doh! It's a tough little organism. LOL!

Thanks. There's just not much out there anymore to photograph. And since I don't ever go anywhere, I see nothing new. Hahahaha!

But we don't live in your surroundings so it's all new to us!

You say there is nothing spectacular, but I think all of those things are! You have certainly learned the art of observation!

Thank you, Sue. Project 366 has really helped me be a better observer. Still, I look for scenery such as you have at the river to no avail. LOL!

Oh, I don't know. Some days I've really had a time finding something to photograph...and the pressure! LOL!

I have said that I probably won't know how to post without a picture prompt after this year, though. Maybe... ;)

Thanks! I looked for more lichen but didn't find any in my yard. I may have to go further afield to find different specimens.

Age Spots says it all, doesn't it? LOL!

I always love your pictures, Lonnye Sue. I tried to learn how to use our digital camera when we were on our trip to NYC, but I couldn't even see anything through the view finder. I just used the image in the screen. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the pictures from the silly camera to the computer. (I am really technologically challenged. I have to be walked through a process numerous times before it finally clicks and I can do it myself.)

I do hope you'll continue your picture project next year.

Thank you, Sandy.

Your camera is obviously much more sophisticated than the one I use. Mine doesn't have a view finder, just an LED screen. LOL!

I can't imagine being able to find new things to photograph for another year, but I AM thinking about doing a project through a LJ community called 100 Snapshots. They actually have two lists now and are working on a third. Maybe I could squeeze in 365 photos again. Maybe. :D

You are so silly! You just gave us wondrous things to look at. I've never seen that green lichen. Amazing stuff. I loved "Caught," too.

That green lichen is all over the place around here, but the white is new to me. It's some weird stuff.

Thank you! :D
