Last year I planted a pot for Melanie that had an orange lily in it. I just left it in the pot to overwinter, and lo and behold, it multiplied and grew a couple of feet to boot. The first of eighteen buds opened today.

So cheerful and are those Marigolds in the pot behind?

Apparently. I'm glad, but I may need to transplant for next year. I'm not sure the pot is big enough. :D

I'm sorry, but I find that rather creepy. I think it's going to eat me.

Aaaaaaah!

That is one gorgeous lily and almost a pure orange. What are the tiny purple and yellow flowers I see in the second picture? The contrast is just lovely.

Melanie saw this lily last year and we both fell in love with it. She planted it in her yard in Arkansas several years ago and it multiplied like crazy. I'm thinking I probably need to transplant these to the yard for next year. When do I do that?

The purple is Mexican heather. I've always really liked it, but this is the first year I've been able to find it around here.

I didn't know a lily could winter in a pot!

Neither did I, but it did! I probably better transplant it for next year, though. If the pot bursts over the winter, the lily is in trouble.

Yes! Springtime and all is new and beautiful in the world. My lillies were left at the side of the yard last year (by forgetfulness and neglect on my part) and yep, they are up and at em too and I might add, in a new pot.

Evidently they are very forgiving plants. It's a good thing because I didn't do one form thing to these over the winter. YAY! :D
