Another critter appeared this evening to add to the menagerie that has graced my garden this year. I've named him Spike. He's dining on the lantana, and there may be none left in the morning if he has brothers. :/

Spike is pretty brave, but who wouldn't be with all those legs to grab hold of stems?

The Spikester...

Mabry and I were fiddling around with some pots this afternoon and a small green bug jumped out at me. It was a little shocking until I realized just what it was.

The whole family came out to see it, and Peyton wanted to take a picture of it with my camera. By this time, the little critter was getting a tad tired of being poked and prodded and ogled so he jumped right on the camera. And he crawled all over us after that.

We also had a visit from the Thief King. Jeff found an old glazed, lidded jar for Bokeh's treats, but guess who found a way to open it? Yep.

And next year I'm planting lots of dill just for the caterpillars. Mabry found one on a garden trowel today. When she petted it, it shot out its antennae. Cool!

Wanna see? )

Remember this post?

Here's what I came home to today. AAAAARRRRRRGH!

We have a dog food storage bin on my porch where everyone can get to it. It's not quite big enough for the HUGE bags we buy, but it's perfect for the bags of treats and bird seed.

Over the last few weeks, I've come home from school to find the lid open day after day. Unfortunately, I've blamed Mabry. She uses treats to distract Bokeh when she is crossing from my house to hers. I just thought she'd been forgetting to close the lid. I must apologize because...

It's a DANG SQUIRREL!

I realized it this afternoon when I noticed the lid up. Mabry has not been over here at all today. Sooooo, I fashioned a 'lock' from one of my copper garden tags.

Hahahahahahaha! A few minutes ago I heard a tell-tale racket. I sneaked to the door and watched the little bugger try to open the lid. I could almost hear him say, "Curses! Foiled again!" ;)
